The Maharani Lakshmibai Foundation (MLBF) Is On A Mission To Create Healthier Futures In India's Underserved Rural Communities. Focused On Empowering Women And Children, The Foundation’s Health Awareness Program Is Transforming Lives In Villages Where Access To Quality Healthcare Remains A Challenge. With A Deep Commitment To Community-driven Change, MLBF's Initiatives Address Key Rural Health Concerns Through Education, Outreach, And Innovative Engagement.
According To The National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5), only 36% Of Rural Households Have Access To Any Kind Of Public Health Facility Within 5 Km. The Mlbf Program Tackles This Disparity By Organizing Mobile Health Camps, Sanitation Awareness Drives, And Maternal Care Sessions Across Villages In Uttar Pradesh And Madhya Pradesh. In The Past Year Alone, The Foundation Reached Over 15,000 Rural Women Through Grassroots-level Interventions.
What Sets The MLBF program Apart Is Its Data-driven Approach. By Conducting Community Health Surveys, They Identify Critical Gaps Such As Lack Of Awareness About Anemia, Menstrual Hygiene, Child Nutrition, And Vaccination Schedules. For Instance, One Survey Revealed That Nearly 58% Of Women Aged 15-45 In Rural Areas Were Unaware Of anaemia symptoms. In Response, the Foundation Launched Targeted anaemia awareness Workshops In Collaboration With Local Asha Workers, Increasing Community Knowledge By Over 70% Within Six Months.
The Foundation Also Incorporates Digital Health Literacy Into Its Model. With Smartphone Penetration In Rural India Crossing 40% In 2024, Mlbf Has Begun Piloting Whatsapp-based Health Alerts, Teleconsultation For Minor Ailments, And Educational Reels On Topics Like Handwashing, Child Care, And First-aid.
Another Core Focus Is Maternal And Child Health. MLBF’s “Healthy Mothers, Strong Villages” Campaign Has Led To A 12% Increase in Institutional Deliveries in Target Villages. Through Health Checkup Camps, Over 3,500 Women Have Received Screenings For High Blood Pressure, Gestational Diabetes, And Malnutrition.
